Meet the Staff

Caroline SchaabLibrary Information Specialist

I'm excited to be starting my 15th year in District 64 and 2nd year in the Field School Library. Previously, I've taught 4th and 5th grade at Field and I've been an Instructional Coach at Roosevelt School.   This summer I passed my Library Information Specialist Exam and continue to studying information sciences at the University of Illinois.  I have one class left!

A Little more about Mrs. Schaab

My goal as an educator is to empower all of my students to be critical thinkers, problem solvers, enthusiastic readers, and skillful researchers. I embrace the whole child valuing intellectual, social, emotional, and physical well-being. I want to inspire all students that enter my classroom/library to be lifelong learners and create a safe environment for students to takes risks with their learning. As a lifelong learner, I'm constantly reflecting on my practice to continuously improve. Last year, I earned my National Board Certification, where over four years I met on a regular basis with other educators and reflect on my teaching in efforts to improve my practice and maximize student success.   I'm proud to be a NBCT!

When I'm not at school I'm busy with my amazing family. My husband and I love our neighborhood and sitting outside reading and watching our children play. My oldest daughter, Lila, is a fourth grader at Franklin School. She loves gymnastics and is getting ready to start her second competition season as a Level 4 USAG gymnast.   She loves reading non fiction, especially about people and flamingos. She also loves graphic novels.  She is hoping to compete in Battle of the Books this year!  My son, Marco, is in second grade at Franklin School. He loves playing baseball, creating inventions, and anything Star Wars.   He is currently having a love/hate relationship with reading, however, he LOVES listening to audiobooks.   He also is a HUGE Chicago Cubs fan. My youngest daughter, Lennie, is starting Kindergarten with her siblings at Franklin. She loves unicorns, gymnastics, soccer, dancing, and investigating insects. She loves reading Puppy Mudge and any non fiction book that interests her!  My kids keep me pretty busy, and love hearing about my adventures at school.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or you just want to say hello by contacting me using the button above.   I'd love to hear from you!
